A comprehensive walkthrough (with screenshots) for how to set up your Fiverr freelance seller account!
There are so many websites out there for freelance writers (see Alternatives to Fiverr). Which one is the best? Which one will get you the most gigs?
There’s no easy or perfect answer to this. That’s why, it’s best you just start!
Fiverr is a great place to start because of the amount of traffic it receives.
Follow along and the sections will walk you through the process of starting a Fiverr account.
Ready to start?
If you’ve ever wanted to start your income journey by making money on Fiverr, the process can seem overwhelming. In this post, you’ll learn step by step how to sign up for Fiverr in about an hour.
If you’re brand new to Fiverr, I suggest buying at least one service from a seller on Fiverr if you can. It will help you get familiar with the process and gain insight into how it all works. If you go that route, use this link for 20% off.
Personal Information
On this first page, Fiverr is going to ask you to add a profile picture, your language fluency, and to “Share a bit about your work experience, cool projects you’ve completed, and your area of expertise.”
If you’re new to writing and you’re thinking, “I don’t have anything.” Don’t worry! You absolutely have something you can share. You’re a writer. Write!
Do you have a degree? Do you read consistently in certain areas? Here’s an example of what I’d write if I didn’t have any experience. (Feel free to use/modify this if you’d like!)
Professional Information
Occupation
In the occupation section, you want to be aspirational here. I’m certainly not telling you to be fraudulent. However, if you’re like me, you tend to undersell yourself. Don’t do that!
Even if you don’t have a ton of experience in an area, the only way to get experience is by completing jobs. Choose your five best skills and be confident!
Skills
Education, Certification, and Personal Website
For these sections, just fill them in honestly. They won’t make or break your profile so don’t worry if you don’t have much to fill in for these!
Linked Accounts
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend starting a Twitter account for your services. Use a picture of yourself and be generous with Following, Retweeting, and Liking others.
When you’re just starting out, comb through hashtags associated with what you’re doing. See what people are saying and get involved!
A robust presence will make you seem professional and will help you find new friends in the same boat as you. You’ll also find great articles and suggestions circulating among your peers. Learn from them!
Launch your Gig!

Overview
Pricing
Keep up the momentum! You’re almost done!
Here’s where it will be helpful to analyze some top sellers in your niche.
If you haven’t already, spend the next few minutes looking through some other seller profiles to see what type of language they use, pricing they use, and additional services they sell.
The side bar on Fiverr will also walk you through the process.
The extra services are nice for buyers to have. Some buyers are on a deadline and if you can help them by being the fastest turnaround time, then you might get jobs others would have.
I’d also consider adding in revisions. If you’re new like I was, I cared more about getting five star reviews than about churning out services.
Five star reviews will boost your rating and move you up on the website. So you may want to offer to revise anything a buyer doesn’t like (more information, another category, etc.).
This will also give buyers peace of mind, knowing you’re willing to get it right.
