Want to know the best kept secret to making a great living while writing? Copywriting is an important option for writers. It gives us the flexibility we want with our day, while paying well. If you’re wondering what copywriting is, how to do it, or anything else about copywriting, be sure to check out this interview with Nicki Krawczyk!

Nicki is the founder of Filthy Rich Writer. She’s been a copywriter for more than 15 years. She’s worked for and with clients including TripAdvisor, Marshalls, Hasbro, Keurig, adidas, and even Harlequin Romance novels.

Krawczyk has worked for agencies as in-house and also as a freelancer and has made over six figures as a copywriter for several years.

She created Filthy Rich Writer because she believes there’s never been a better time to be a copywriter: There are more companies than ever before who need great copywriters.

If you missed last week’s author interview with SA Sidor, be sure to check that out here!

“I also created Filthy Rich Writer because it’s been damn hard to find top quality, real-world copywriting training. I’ve put together the exact resources and trainings I’d give myself if I could time travel back to the beginning of my career.” —Nicki Krawczyk

In the first part of this interview, we talk through an introduction to copywriting, what a copywriter does and how they operate. Whether you’ve heard of copywriting before or not, this will be useful. If you’re hoping to break into copywriting, be sure to check out this article!

I want to share a bit about how I came to the idea of copywriting. I was looking for something I can do to make some money on the side without having to give up my day job. And, while I said at the start of the interview, I’m on a bit of a hiatus, one of the most attractive parts of copywriting for me was that it can be part time. You can start with ONE client. You don’t have to go get a degree, pay thousands and thousands of dollars and use up months and months of your time.

There’s a learning curve so I suggest taking some kind of course (there’s a lot out there but obviously I recommend Nicki’s for all the reasons we talk about in this part of the interview) But once you know what you’re doing, you can start part time.

So if you’re anything like me, hearing about the flexible work schedule and being able to write for a career probably sounds pretty good. It honestly has me thinking about leaving teaching like this former teacher who replaced her teaching salary in a matter of weeks!

And if you’re new to the idea of copywriting, hopefully that gave you a quick background on what it is. But how do you do it? In the second half of this interview we talk about what a copywriter ACTUALLY DOES on a day to day basis.

We also talk about why she started Filthy Rich Writer, how she comes up with great content and bonuses, why as well as how adds content, value, and connects with her students. And she shares some advice for anyone aspiring to a creative career that I think will be so valuable for you all to hear.

If there’s one thing I’d want you all to take away from this interview, it’s that Nicki is not successful unless her copywriters are. Whether you’re interested in this copywriting course or not, people are turning to courses to learn skills. And if you haven’t done one yet, you probably will.

But what I think sets Nicki’s course apart is that it’s not a single transaction. I become a member of a course, but I continue to hear from her through the facebook group, emails, added courses, and coaching calls. And whatever course you end up buying along the way, I’d say that’s worth thinking about. Is this person just emailing me a pdf and access to videos and saying thanks for the deposit? Or are they continuing to invest time in me?
